Professor Will Wiedenhoeft

Owner and Head Instructor

Owner and Head Instructor Will Wiedenhoeft has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 22 years and making their own modifications along the way to accommodate chronic pain. They are a nonbinary queer person with a passion for sharing Jiu-Jitsu with people who haven’t always felt comfortable walking into a martial arts gym.  Professor Will's goal as a coach is to help every student recognize their own power and wield it with confidence and kindness. They graduated from St. Olaf College in 2015 with a degree in Mathematics, and they are a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Professor Gina Franssen of X2 Fitness in Minneapolis, MN.​​

Coach Sarah Degar
(they/them)

Instructor

Coach Sarah started training in 2012 and is currently a BJJ brown belt under Professor Gina Franssen. They are an architect with a background in affordable housing. Coach Sarah maintains roots in Houston, TX, where they are the Co-founder and Program Director at Third Ward Jiu-Jitsu, a non-profit community gym.

Professor Kal Johnson

Instructor

Professor Kal is a BJJ black belt under George and Sarah Andersch from the Fargo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. They started training BJJ in 2011 while attending college in Moorhead, MN. They eventually cross-trained in Muay Thai, wrestling, and MMA. However, Professor Kal's highest interest in BJJ has always been teaching. They have more than a decade of experience as a BJJ coach for adults and kids of all levels. They strive to make their classes approachable and thought-provoking. Time on the mat has been one of Professor Kal's greatest teachers; they feel privileged to extend that opportunity to others through Misfit BJJ!
